The Brief
This project forms part of a complete house renovation of a Grade II listed Georgian manor house. The brief was to create a dramatic and fantastical dining room space that would be an experience to dine in and enjoy with family and guests.
About The Project
'I very much enjoyed designing this room. Having worked with my clients for a few years now, they were happy to give me a fairly loose brief in terms of overall style and colours and leave the rest to me.
We built right across one wall with the existing fireplace on to create a space for an inset wood burner which is high enough to be viewed when dining. The fire surround is black Star Galaxy granite. The recess to the right of the fire allowed for a discreet built-in cupboard to store the extra leaves for my clients’ antique dining table for when guests arrived.
Overall, I was delighted with this room. It is such a bold and dramatic space, that instead of being more of a walkway to other key rooms of the house, it really commands attention as a beautiful room in its own right'.
