The Brief

This project was to update a kitchen with a stylish and contemporary space that included a real design statement that was unique and had a ‘wow’ factor.

About The Project

My clients wished to update their kitchen / utility with a light and contemporary design that functioned more effectively than the existing room, and from a design point of view created a real statement in their home.

About The Project

I chose contemporary handless kitchen units in a soft grey tone which complemented a white stone quartz worktop and designed recess shelving with LED lighting to create a bespoke shelving feature. Stunning copper glass tiles were used as an accent colour which transformed the space into a real statement.

I included plenty of storage into the design, as well as built a stud wall to neatly partition the adjacent utility. Integrated appliances were also installed, the double white glass ovens, in particular, complementing the other tones in the room. I chose a light grey luxury vinyl flooring so the overall palette of the kitchen remained consistent and the client's cleverly added accessories which worked well with the overall colour scheme.

The finished look was a stunning kitchen with wonderful copper tiles giving the whole space a contemporary and stylish feel. I chose a light grey luxury vinyl flooring so the overall palette of the kitchen remained consistent and the client's cleverly added accessories which worked well with the overall colour scheme

Rebecca Coulby

What Our Client Says

'We wanted a fairly simple kitchen not too dissimilar from the existing layout, but more practical for my wife who suffers from back and knee problems. Rebecca Coulby seemed to grasp what was required and suggested some minor changes to resolve the problems, while making more of a feature of an ancient stained glass door and some display shelves that were to be retained. We were quoted 5-6 weeks from stripping out, through re plastering of walls and ceiling, laying a new floor, fitting out, and final decorations. It actually took 4½ weeks despite unexpected additional work being needed to correct defective electrics and plumbing. We opted for a brushed stainless steel sink and drainer. Budget wise, Rebecca quoted us an exact figure and we were half expecting to have to pay a supplement at the end to cover the unexpected works encountered, but no extra payment was required. As for the end result, as a result of the slight re positioning of key items the room appears twice the size, it is also lighter, better heated, and more practical - importantly for a kitchen, it has now successfully passed the Christmas dinner test!'
