The Brief
This project was to convert a bedroom and bathroom into a single shower/bathroom within a grade II listed building in Norfolk to create a stylish interior, in keeping and consistent with the period features of this propertyAbout The Project
About The Project
Working within a listed building is always a challenge; achieving the design requirements of clients whilst at the same time working within the obvious constraints imposed by listed building consent and building controls can be tricky.
My design created 2 separate areas; double basins and WC in the lower section, rising to a space with a traditional free-standing bath and large enclosed shower. Much of the project required bespoke carpentry work, including cabinets, recesses and steps.
My clients wished to create a larger bath/shower room by knocking through from the existing bathroom into an adjacent bedroom to create a larger, more functional space. To complicate matters the rooms were of different heights which made the design and practical building work more challenging, especially creating an opening with steps to allow access from one side to the other.
I chose a stylish palette of lead grey cabinets and doors, complimented by walnut worktops and natural engineered oak through the space. A Duke Grey traditional double ended roll top bath created a centerpiece, and the Black Devon Stone wall tiles created an elegant feature wall.
The overall look was a stunning and stylish interior, in keeping and consistent with the period features of this property. A wonderful space to relax and unwind after a long day.
What Our Client Says
Her team were polite, friendly and highly skilled, talking us through the whole process from start to finish; nothing was too much trouble for them. Our new bathroom is as fantastic as we imagined it would be (and more) and we cannot thank the whole Coulby Interiors team enough for all of their hard work.'We would certainly recommend them and will no doubt be using them again for our next project.'
