Bungalow Renovation

This characterful property in Beccles, Suffolk had enormous potential but had suffered from years of neglect. Our goal was to transform it into a stylish and functional family home through a comprehensive renovation and interior redesign.

Structural changes were essential from the outset. We removed the chimney from the loft through to the kitchen, creating space for a loft conversion with an ensuite upstairs and an extended open-plan kitchen-diner on the ground floor. The original kitchen was small and dark, so we opened up the space by removing the wall between the kitchen and dining room. This allowed us to design a bright, modern kitchen-diner — perfect for contemporary family living.

Upstairs, we reconfigured the layout to create two spacious bedrooms, each with its own ensuite. Clever use of the eaves provided hidden storage, and we redesigned the landing to incorporate additional built-in cupboard space.

On the ground floor, we enlarged the original fireplace to create a stunning focal point in the lounge. We also merged a separate WC and bathroom into one generous family bathroom featuring a walk-in shower. Decorative wall panelling not only added classic charm but also concealed internal pipework and drainage.

The kitchen was designed around two key zones: a dedicated cooking area with a large peninsula and bar seating, and a dining area with ample space for a family table. The overall look is timeless and elegant, combining practicality with style. New bi-fold doors open onto the patio, flooding the space with natural light and enhancing the connection between indoors and out.
