The Brief

To design and build a colourful and elegant guest bathroom with bespoke built-in furniture. Blue was to be the key colour along with oak and the overall design must be in keeping with the period property and features.

About The Project

My client wanted something unique and special for thier en-suite bathroom. They love bold and interesting colours and want to create a sense of luxury together with that ‘wow’ factor for their guests or family staying.

About The Project

I have worked with my clients to renovate their period property for a few years and know them well. I knew that they would be looking for something unique and special. They love bold and interesting colours and want to create a sense of luxury together with that ‘wow’ factor for their guests or family staying.

The bathroom itself is a good size and allows for a large shower enclosure, a double vanity unit, plenty of additional storage, and decorative shelving. I chose Original Style Monte Blanc tiles in blue for the shower and the matching mosaic wall tiles for behind the basins. These are truly beautiful tiles that add a touch of glamour.

Solid oak flooring and worktops, properly treated of course, provide a warm and textural contrast. The cast iron radiator replaced an old towel radiator to add significantly more warmth to the room along with elegant daisy detailing, and the traditional, simple heated towel rail warms the towels by the basin area. All the cabinetry was carefully designed to fit perfectly and to maximise storage space, which my team then hand-made and hand painted on site.

The plumbing and drainage for this bathroom proved rather challenging as my clients were keen to have a shower tray level with the floor. The original pipework was insufficient and did not allow enough of a fall, which had caused leaks and damage in the past. We effectively had to remove all this pipework and begin again with entirely new pipework, in a new route avoiding the joists, that exited the property and drained away correctly in order to allow this room to function properly.

Whilst this is arguably not one of the key rooms of this property renovation, it is actually a real favourite for myself and my clients. They are now proud to share this room with their family and guests whenever they visit.

What Our Client Says

'You have completed a range of different rooms for us that really show case your versatility and how you are able to design wonderful spaces for different purposes. The photos are great but the true wonder of the rooms is when you are in them and you really get to see the quality and experience the atmosphere. We are very proud of what you have achieved and we take pleasure in sharing it with others who also appreciate great design and quality'.
