About The Project

About The Project

My client wished to enlarge the property’s existing bathroom in order to create a luxurious space in which to relax in. In order to accommodate this, the design utilised the space outside the bathroom on the landing, currently occupied by a cupboard. By removing this and repositioning the doorway into the bathroom, a new larger bathroom layout was achievable.

Initially some upgrading of the sub floor in the new bathroom was required to accommodate new drainage and prepare for the finished flooring material.

The centre piece of the bathroom was a traditional copper roll top bath with matching freestanding tap and mixer. It was important that the flooring choice complemented the copper bath both in colour and design. To this end a monochrome patterned tile was chosen which provided structure and enhanced the presentation of the copper bath.

Modern-design cistern and basin units in natural tones worked well with the overall tone of the space in colour and material and a distinctive feature wall colour complimented the soft and muted tone of the rest of the room. The overall look provided a striking contrast of materials that worked beautifully together, combining to create an elegant and relaxing bathroom.

Rebecca Coulby

What Our Client Says

'We have worked with Coulby Interiors on several projects in our 500+ year old timber framed thatch cottage including an attic conversion and cloakroom, pantry, and laundry renovation. Rebecca’s creativity in design and the entire team’s attention to detail is beyond comparison; transforming difficult spaces into beautiful, usable, spaces - fresh, but sympathetic, to the old bones of the house. As with all renovations of very old houses, projects throw up unique challenges along the way - planning permissions, electrical and plumbing complications, wonky walls, etc. - and the Coulby Interior team works within those challenges and sometimes makes a feature of them. They are very flexible and innovative. Having renovated many houses around the world, we have never met a team that is so pleasant, professional, and precise. For each new project, we only look to Coulby Interiors to complete it.'
